Statement |
In my paintings I try to reflect my view of life in the 21st century. I am drawn to images of people, people in commonplace situations, often urban, perhaps with an added element; an unorthodox viewpoint, a particular light effect or a touch of irony.
I have consciously moved away from the painterly to a form of realism as a way of engaging the viewer whilst trying to avoid both cliché and the ‘safe’ option. I find acrylics the best medium for my purposes, fast-drying and affording clarity and crispness of detail.
Painting is a constant source of discovery and self-discovery.

| Biography |
I studied at the City of Norwich School and Norwich School of Art, after which I trained as a Lithographic Artist with Jarrolds. I retired in 1994 from a career in printing and publishing to concentrate on painting and music. I am a founder-member and past chair of the Breckland Artists group and currently serve on the central committee of the Norfolk Open Studios scheme.
