My work explores the fragile symbiotic relationship between man and the natural environment. I work in tune with nature to create work that is testimony to my interaction with materials, conditions, seasons and weather. I transform leaves and fibres into paper on which I print images using various printmaking processes.

I am currently exploring the spiritual impact of the effect of light seen through trees in a series of monoprints. The images are produced using a variety of printmaking mediums including linocuts to create a spontaneous and painterly effect. These images are printed onto papers I have created using the leaves and fibres of local woodland species, for example beech, nettle and oak.

Over the last two years I have been co-chairing the Gainsborough’s House Print Workshop with Emma Buckmaster and we are now engaged in an exciting new collaborative project. We are working together on images of native tree species and our aim is to combine Emma’s method of etching with my leaf papers to produce a collection of unique tree portraits. Work in progress on this project will be on display at the AMET evening on Saturday 1st October 2011.
