| Artist's Statement |
| The inspiration for my work is much related to life interests and is the springboard for my paintings. The work has made a gradual development from illustration to painting and although still subject based often it is an idea that forms the content of a painting.
Solving the juxtaposition between the initial response to a subject where fluid impulsive set of marks are laid down and imagination is given full reign, and the thought process engaged with building the structure and finding the right qualities of form and colour, is paramount in getting a painting right. At the end of the day, I hope to have made an image that reflects my way of seeing and feeling about the world we share.

| Biography |
| Gabrielle Stoddart studied at Brighton College of Art and qualified as a teacher in 1973. There followed a successful career in freelance illustration in London gaining many commissions for book illustration, advertising, editorial and fashion work. She combined this with various teaching posts at Kingston Art College, Maidenhead Art College and Community Education colleges.
Moving to Suffolk in 1987, she continued to teach whilst making the transition from illustration to painting, joining Artworks in 2002. She now exhibits both locally and in London.
