My recent work is about landscape and the colour that can be found there. States of light, time of day, sun, wind and rain all affect the intensity of any given moment. In these paintings, form has given way to emotion, invoking the feelings engendered with the pleasure of looking around us. The abstract nature allows the viewer to experience these emotions without being sidetracked by realistic detail. Using many thin layers of paint and glaze, I gradually build an intense depth of colour which reflects moments of light seen.

I have developed a technique of stretching a manipulated canvas over a curving stretcher. This not only echoes nature but also creates an interaction with the viewer. Moving around the painting, diverse aspects become dominant, the light catches it differently down a slope, the eye is attracted by a row of stitching, interesting shadows are thrown on to the wall. This all builds to give the viewer a complex experience. A painting understood over time becomes a continuing relationship, to be savoured slowly.

From a career in interior design and fashion, Eleonora studied Fine Art at Colchester School of Art and Design where she graduated in 2006 with a First Class Honours degree. She is a member of the Suffolk Open Studios and ‘Down To Earth’, a collaborative group of London and East Anglia artists. She has exhibited in both East Anglia and London and is currently working on a joint touring exhibition with ‘Down To Earth’.
