| Artist's Statement |
I have a continuing fascination for the ramshackle barns of East Anglia as well as interior still lives. Always starting with observed reality, I re-evaluate them through structure, form and shape. By juxtaposing lines and layers to make images more complex, I aim to convey movement and shifting view points thus allowing viewers a richer visual experience. Colour as well as intricate patterns and shapes are an important part of my work.
Each deconstruction is manipulated and finally rebuilt as an enigmatic and individual narrative. Within, there might be objects, partially hidden, puzzling or teasing and not quite what they seem. This makes the interpretation of each work an individual experience.

| Biography |
Since completing a degree in Art and Design at Colchester Institute in 2002, I have exhibited widely in the UK. From 2002–6, I collaborated with Dr Klaus Podoll on research into migraine art and co-published many papers and articles. In 2004, I was granted a ‘Sciart Research and Development’ award by The Wellcome Trust to investigate ‘Aversion to Contemporary Art’ in collaboration with Professor Arnold Wilkins, Director of Visual Perception Unit, University of Essex. This resulted in a successful computer programme designed to reduce visual stress in the environment. In 2005, a photograph of my painting ‘Jesmond Barn’ won 1st prize in the ‘Art meets Science’ award in the Daily Telegraph/Novatis ‘Vision of Science’ Photographic Awards. Between 2005-6 this image was exhibited throughout the UK at venues including the Science Museum, London, Glasgow Scientific Centre and Newcastle International Centre for Life as well as at Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, Spain.
