Statement |
I have always drawn. I am interested in shape and line and this has formed the foundation of my work. Since schooldays, I remember being interested in aesthetics so I guess I have been training my eye, my judgement of what is interesting visually. I am increasingly interested in the qualities and limitations of the media in which I work, and the balance between broad areas of colour and sharp definition or detail, which creates rhythms as in music.

| Biography |
Born Cheltenham in 1944 and lived in Cornwall until 1954. Attended Sir John Leman School, Beccles, Suffolk 1955-1962 and Lowestoft Art School 1962-3. Continued to draw, paint and make artworkafter marrying and moving to Norwich. Was a guide at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art. In 1984 started a degree course in Education at UEA and took up linoprinting and etching, graduating in 1988. Taught in primary education until 1997. Resumed full time art activities. Currently secretary to Breckland Artists.
