Statement |
A festival of fuchsias held in
the village church provided me with the incentive to pick up
a paintbrush in 1984. To begin with I used acrylic and gouache
on a variety of different coloured backgrounds, which portrayed
the vibrancy found in fuchsias. Later the technique of using
watercolours with a 'dry' brush was integrated with the other
media to produce the full range of botanical subjects. This
not only allowed me to describe the plant accurately but to
capture the true character and beauty of the plant.
